Allen is a retired Primary School Headteacher with an art college training background. He specialises in watercolours and pastels depicting local scenes of York as well as landscapes and seascapes in Durham, Yorkshire and Northumberland.

Some of his work are semi-abstract, a style adopted using vivid colours. Pastels are an ideal medium for this.

Allen has lived in York since 1976 so feels proud to be an adopted son of York although he still get inspiration from his original birthplace in the North East. We hope you enjoy the work as much as Allen enjoys doing it.

'Wonderful little cafe!' (tripadvisor 5*)

'Came here for a relax in the bank holiday sunshine as the location right on the ouse is just beautiful. Sat in the little garden with lovely roses and it was the perfect little bit of tranquility. The staff seemed to have a bit of a problem with the electrics but they kept us updated and served food and coffee with only a slight delay! Very friendly staff, lovely cafe both inside and out- will be recommending to all! Thanks'

'Superb' (tripadvisor 5*)

'Called in on a recent visit to York, staff were brilliant, really friendly. We all had toasted paninis which were fantastic and my daughter had one of the recommend ed milkshakes which she said was amazing. Interior is also great with its shabby chic decor which is very homely. We all enjoyed our food and will definitely return. If you are in York then call in and see for yourselves.'
